Q: How long does it take to reglaze a tub?

A: Approximately 4-5 hours.  You can re-use in 12 hours.

Q: Is it cheaper to buy a new tub?

A: To compare the total cost of the installation of a new tub, make sure you include plumbing costs for labor and fixtures, as well as sub-flooring and floor tile damaged in the removal of the old tub.  Our price is just a fraction of the cost of replacement!

Q: Why should I reglaze my wall tile?

A: No more mildew!  No more outdated colors! Reduce the risk of water damage.  Reglazing seals in the grout, eliminating pin holes that can lead to wet walls.

Q: How do you clean a reglazed surface?

A: We suggest you do not use harsh abrasives or cleansers. These act like sandpaper, and will scratch the surface.  Liquid and foam cleaners are preferred.

Q:   What are the coatings? Is it real porcelain?

A: No, it's not actually porcelain. It's a synthetic, formulated from a tough, heat resistant    resin. They  are   lead free,  acrylic based coatings which are acid resistant, durable and easy to clean. The materials  are 100% safe and non-toxic when dry. The product allows for expansion and contraction which occurs when areas are subjected to the extremes of hot and cold water. This flexibility means the product maintains its   strength  over time.

Q:  What if my fixture is damaged?

A: Small chips and cracks can usually be repaired during the preparation stage of the refinishing process. Often if it is just a single chip, for instance, we can fill and refinish just the damaged area. With careful color matching, the repaired chip will be practically invisible. Bayside is regularly called upon to repair newly installed, but slightly damaged fixtures for Kohler, MAAX,  and others.

Q:  My tub was refinished by another company, and is peeling.  What happened?

A:  Most likely you have a surface bonding problem or possibly a maintanence issue.  The company that refinished your tub most likely used either inexpensive, inferior materials, and/or poorly trained personnel. Bayside uses only  the finest materials, and process for refinishing your tub.

Q:  Is it possible to reglaze fiberglass fixtures

A:  Yes. Fiberglass or gel-coat tubs require a different type preparation but once completed are just as durable as regular bathtubs.

Q:  Does the process smell bad?

A:  Newly refinished tubs give off a solvent type slight odor for a short time.  An exhaust system is used to remove the vapors from the home.  We do encourage anyone with reactions to paint odors to remain out of the area.
